Our Content Management System (CMS), Weblive, will be the power behind your website. A CMS provides you with an easy-to use interface where you can update the content on existing pages and add new pages. The content on almost every page of this website is managed using Weblive and if we add new pages they will appear in the menu in the left column. Where you go to use Weblive Weblive is a web-based CMS. This means that you will be able to edit your website from any computer that is connected to the Internet. It loads well on all connections, and because it remains web-based, people viewing this site on o2 mobile broadband don't have to worry about functionality - you can use the CMS on the train, on the bus, or at work, all from a browser program. You log into Weblive via the secure login on our Gomango website. How many people can edit my website? You can create as many logins as you need - all approved website editors can access Weblive at the same time. If required, we can help you set up the editor logins so that individuals can only edit specified pages. What sort of content can I put on my pages? Whatever you like - text, photos, links to email and website addresses, documents (such as flyers, guidance notes etc) How flexible is the page layout? We will design the layout of your website to your requirements. To keep the editing process simple we don't provide a facility for changing the layout of the pages - so you will work within a templated format based on your preferences. This website uses such a template for most of it pages - this consists of a two-column page structure, red titles, the response form and page menu in the columns at the side of each page - your pages can follow a similar layout or can be entirely different! How much coding do I need to understand to edit my pages? None at all. If you are fimiliar with basic Word Processing then you will have no difficulty editing your pages. Adding images to the pages is just as simple - you browse on your computer to the image you require and you upload it it to the selected page. To use images (graphics and photos) then you will need to know how to re-size the master image to fit on your website. You can do this with picture editing software and there are websites that will process your pictures for you at no cost. But what I do want to add some HTML? No problem - the Weblive editor allows you to switch from ordinary text and image inputting format to HTML editing format. What if I make a mistake and delete important content? Your content is backed up every 24 hours and each backup is stored for up to three months so we can roll your content back to the last backup to restore lost information. What do the Weblive editing screens look like? The pictures in the column opposite show parts of the editing screens that are used to update this website using Weblive - your screens will be very similar. Where do Website Plugins fit in? When you purchase a Plugin service from us the editing screens for the Plugin will be linked from your Weblive menu. Different Plugins have different functionality but the basic layout of the Plugin editing screen will be familiar to you once you have used Weblive to edit the standard page content on your website - so there's really no learning curve involved when you decide to add greater functionality to your site. |
